Owen Store, a clothing store whose interior was designed with 25,000 paper bags

In this first decade of the 21st century, it has been shown that any type of material, however precarious or strange it may seem, can be used to create extraordinary architecture or interior design projects.

One of the unconventional materials most used in recent years, especially for interior design and furniture design, is undoubtedly paper. An extraordinary example of this is the interior design carried out by the architecture firm Tacklebox for the Owen Store, a clothing store located in the Meatpacking neighborhood of New York City.

Over 25,000 recycled paper bags have been placed on a curved laminated wood structure, which together resemble a honeycomb.

In the project, an apparent brick wall has been maintained, rescued from the original building, which complements very well with the gallery of paper bags, in addition to giving the store a curious urban-industrial style typical of the Big Apple.

The 170-square-meter store previously housed a meat products warehouse. This is the first project in a series of stores for the Owen brand and is a preview of the stores that will take place soon.
